Although Washington DC is best known for its European style buildings, there's been an increase in Mediterranean style houses in recent years. With good reason: it's one of the showiest and most inviting styles in the whole architectural pantheon.

Mediterranean style is very much in keeping with the weather of many of the European cities where it originated. These houses are more formal than the hacienda influence that comes by way of Mexico and South America . Either way, though, one of their glories is how beautiful the wall colors both outside and inside are painted.
